PROTEIN BROWNIES

Deliciously moist brownies with walnut pieces packed with proteins. When you think of brownies, the first thing that comes to mind is a calorie bomb with an abundance of sugar. These brownies do not contain any refined or added sugars and are also much lower in calories than normal brownies. But don't worry, because even though this is the healthy version, they still taste sweet because of the dates in this recipe. This is one of the sweetest fruits, an ideal flavoring. Fruit sugars are also sugar, but it does not come close to the amount of refined sugars that you would need. And fruit contains a lot of vitamins and minerals. A date in your brownie is therefore much healthier than regular sugar.

Ingredients

  • 40g pancake mix Quamtrax (Bombon Rocher/Choco Biscuit)
  • 70g almond flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 30g walnuts
  • 100g dates (pitted)
  • 50g melted coconut oil
  • 1 egg

Dates are rich in:

Fibers (optimal digestion , promotes resistance , cholesterol-lowering effect)

Magnesium (helps to lower blood pressure, optimal metabolism , anti-inflammatory effect)

Potassium (helps lower blood pressure, good for bones and teeth)

Calcium (good for bones and teeth)

Vitamin B6 (improved brain function)

The walnuts provide the crunch in the brownies. And they have some great benefits. One of the most important is that they contain a high amount of ALA (Alpha-Linolenic Acid). This is a fatty acid that is not produced by the human body. ALA is converted in the body to important Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA). And Omega-3 fatty acids keep your cholesterol levels good.

So you can use these brownies perfectly as a pre-workout meal when you train a large muscle group. Because the fruit sugars (fructose) in the dates keep your blood sugar level high during your workout, which provides more energy. And the unsaturated fatty acids in the walnuts have a positive effect on your strength training and muscle recovery.

Preparation

  • Soak the dates in a bowl of warm water for at least 20 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 170 degrees.
  • Line a rectangular baking tin with a sheet of baking paper.
  • Crush the walnuts into small pieces in a towel or cling film.
  • Mix the pancake mix, almond flour, baking powder and walnut pieces well.
  • Mix the dates, egg and coconut oil in a blender and add them to the mixture with the dry ingredients.
  • Stir everything together with a fork, this way the brownies will be airy on the inside and crispy on the outside. If the batter is too firm you can add some warm water
  • Pour the batter over the baking paper in the baking tin.
  • Place the baking tin in the oven and bake for a maximum of 20 minutes at 170 degrees.
  • Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool for 2 minutes. Then you can remove the brownies from the pan together with the baking paper.
  • Let it cool for another 10 to 15 minutes before cutting into pieces.
